Vietnamese ambassador on promising areas for implementing projects with Gomel Oblast

22.05.2026
On the sidelines of the 20th Gomel Economic Forum Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung mentioned three areas where, in his words, joint projects of Vietnam and Gomel Oblast can be implemented in the near future, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that the representative forum gathers leading experts, politicians, and entrepreneurs on the hospitable Gomel soil to discuss key matters. “For Vietnam the Gomel Economic Forum has long become not just an authoritative dialogue platform, but a symbol of a live practical connection between our countries. We see with deep satisfaction how the practical return from negotiations within the framework of the forum is growing,” he said.

The ambassador emphasized that Vietnam and Belarus are connected by decades of friendship and mutual respect. “Our relations have stood the test of time and today have reached the level of a genuine strategic partnership. We highly appreciate Belarus’ consistent position on matters of peace and stability in Southeast Asia. The Belarusian side can always count on Vietnam’s support within the framework of international organizations,” he noted.

Nguyen Van Trung drew attention to the fact that today Gomel Oblast is a region with a powerful industrial, agrarian, and scientific potential. “Vietnam is ready to offer Belarusian partners a large market with a population of over 100 million people, a well-developed processing industry, and the status of the southern gateway to Asia,” he stressed.

The ambassador named three areas where, in his words, joint projects can be implemented in the near future. “The first one is assembly localization. We invite Gomel enterprises to set up assembly lines in Vietnamese industrial parks. Tax incentives and access to Asian markets make this proposal as profitable as possible,” the diplomat pointed out.

The second area is agribusiness exchange. “Vietnam is interested in regular supplies of high-quality Belarusian dairy products, flax, and fertilizers. In return, we are ready to increase the export of tropical fruits, coffee, pepper, rice, and seafood,” Nguyen Van Trung noted.

The third one is logistics and digitization. “With the development of the international transport corridor ‘North-South’, Gomel can become a key distribution hub for Vietnamese goods across the entire western direction of the EAEU. The Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Belarus is ready to provide all interested parties with the necessary assistance, from organizing meetings to legal support for projects,” the diplomat added.

The 20th Gomel Economic Forum brought together representatives of 16 countries, totaling more than 1,000 participants. Over the course of two days they get familiar with the economic potential of the region. Over the years since its inception the Gomel Economic Forum has become a recognized and authoritative platform for discussing topical matters of international trade, economic, and investment cooperation as well as establishing reliable long-term interregional and industrial cooperation ties.
