Over 700,000t of steel produced at BMZ in H1 2026

21.07.2026
More than 700,000 tonnes of steel were produced at the Belarusian steel mill BMZ in the first half of the year. The enterprise’s performance in January-June was reviewed by Anatoly Volkov, First Deputy Director General of BMZ, the managing company of the Belarusian Metallurgical Company, during a meeting with the staff of the energy department, BelTA learned from the enterprise.

As Anatoly Volkov emphasized, the plant operated steadily during the first six months of 2026, despite the challenging conditions in the global metal products market. Production totaled more than 707,000 tonnes of steel, over 651,000 tonnes of rolled products, more than 46,000 tonnes of pipes, and approximately 60,000 tonnes of hardware products.

BMZ has developed a program to enhance production efficiency and product sales. “We rely on a clearly defined sales strategy and product diversification. One of the program’s key priorities is increasing our share of the domestic market. Over the past three years, we have doubled this indicator: whereas it previously stood at 30%, it now exceeds 60%,” the first deputy director general noted.

“In June, we operated with profitability and added approximately 5,000 tonnes of steel to our May results,” he added.

Among the priority tasks for the second half of the year, Anatoly Volkov identified the diversification of sales and export supplies, cost reduction, and a steady increase in production output compared to the previous year.

BMZ, the managing company of the Belarusian Metallurgical Company, is a high‑technology enterprise in the metallurgical industry. It consists of production facilities linked by a single technological chain, including steelmaking, rolling, pipe, hardware, and infrastructure shops.
