Japanese ambassador sees opportunities for cooperation with Gomel Oblast

25.05.2026
There is potential for cooperation with Belarus’ Gomel Oblast, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Belarus Kazuhiro Kuno said at the 20th Gomel Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that this was his first visit to Gomel.

“The purpose of my visit is to learn about the region’s potential, including in industry, agriculture and other areas,” he said.
“I have been here since yesterday. We met with people we work with as part of our medical equipment assistance projects,” Kazuhiro Kuno added.

Speaking more about his impressions of the region and possible areas for cooperation, the ambassador said: “It seems to me that there is potential.”

“There are currently no Japanese companies in Gomel, so perhaps this is a topic for the future,” he noted.
The 20th Gomel Economic Forum brought together representatives from 16 countries. Over the years, the forum has become a recognized and authoritative platform for discussing current issues of international trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as establishing reliable long-term interregional and cooperative ties.
