Gomel Oblast completes eight investment projects in Q1

14.05.2026
Eight investment projects have been completed in Gomel Oblast in the first quarter of this year, Chairman of the Economics Committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Mikhail Akunets said during a meeting to review the socioeconomic development of Gomel Oblast in January-March 2026, BelTA reports.

According to the chairman of the Economics Committee, the region plans to implement 135 investment projects in the manufacturing sector this year. “In the first quarter, 97 projects were underway, with Br245 million invested in them. Eight have already been completed. By the end of the year, we plan to complete another 50,” said Mikhail Akunets.

“That said, I would like to note that the head of state has set a task, with a deadline of 1 July, to supplement the One District, One Project program with proposals for the establishment and restoration of agroservice and other organizations. In the coming month, we must work together with the executive committees to refine this list and submit specific proposals,” the chairman of the Economics Committee emphasized.

He stressed that the region is making good use of the preferential credit instruments provided by the government to support investment initiatives. These include the “Regional Initiative”, “Tourism Potential”, and “Technological Self Sufficiency”.

According to Mikhail Akunets, 33 projects from the region are already included in the national list of projects that benefit from these loans.

“Nevertheless, not all districts are taking advantage of the opportunities offered. We need to step up our information and outreach efforts in this regard,” added the chairman of the Economics Committee.
