Belarusian steel mill's export to Russia projected to reach $1bn in 2023

27.12.2023

The export of the Belarusian steel mill BMZ to Russia in 2023 may reach $1 billion, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi.

Speaking about record-high export of Belarusian goods to Russia this year, the ambassador mentioned obvious export leaders. The Belarusian steel mill BMZ is one of them. Although there were fears initially that BMZ products may encounter difficulties because the company used to export goods primarily to Western countries and to North America. Meanwhile, the domestic metallurgical industry in Russia is traditionally highly developed.

“But the fears didn't come true. Our steel mill offers good quality and a good price policy. And in all kinds of products from metal cord used by tire manufacturers to various kinds of pipes, which are actively used, including in various construction projects in Russia, we see that this year BMZ can secure a level of export as high as $1 billion. It has never happened, for instance, on the Russian market,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
