Innovative technologies of Belarusian oil institute catch eye of Kazakh colleagues
GOMEL, 17 April (BelTA) – Innovative technologies of the Belarusian oil industry R&D institute look interesting to colleagues from Kazakhstan. BelNIPIneft and the Aktau-based design institute Optimum intend to promote new technologies onto the Kazakhstan market together, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft.
Ways to start working together were discussed as a delegation of top managers of the design institute Optimum and Ansagan Petroleum Company visited Belorusneft. The sides are willing to cooperate primarily in R&D, interpretation of seismic and geophysical data, geological and hydrodynamic modelling of carbon-bearing reservoirs.
Ansagan Petroleum Company extracts hydrocarbons from carbonaceous rock in the comparatively small oil field called Northwestern Zhetybai. The oil field is located in Kazakhstan's Mangystau Oblast, which is also dubbed as Mangyshlak. Extraction operations have been in progress over there since the 1980s.
During the meeting in Gomel Belarusian specialists said they were ready to survey the Northwestern Zhetybai oil field for the sake of improving its production. With this in mind Belorusneft's R&D division BelNIPIneft can study core material and degassed oil, can select the necessary compounds for water isolation, recovery intensification, and the hydrofracturing technology that uses acids and proppants.
The Kazakh delegation was also interested in arranging a benchmark trial of the unique Belarusian technology, which is designed to increase oil recovery by creating a system of far-reaching drainage lines of up to 100m long, which oil industry specialists know as SKIF.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
