Belarusian Belorusneft to open office in India

GOMEL, 25 August (BelTA) - The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft will open a representative office in India. The paperwork has already been signed, the company?s press service told BelTA. The representative office will be located in the State of Assam in eastern India. Among other things the representative office will focus on further advancing cooperation with Oil India and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). Belorusneft is primarily intent on cooperation with the Indian state-run oil company Oil India, which boasts the second largest volume of surveying and extraction in the country. Its core competences include geological exploration, extraction and transportation of hydrocarbons, liquefied natural gas. BelTA reported earlier that a pilot project is being implemented now as part of the contact signed by Belorusneft and Oil India with a view to rehabilitating Digboi, one of the world?s oldest oil fields and Asia?s first oil field. Oil extraction in the Digboi field in the north of the State of Assam began in the late 19th century. It was one of the largest oil fields in India for a long time, but it is out of use now. In line with the contract Belorusneft?s R&D division BelNIPIneft will provide engineering and consulting services for resuming oil extraction in the Digboi oil field. The project comprises 12 stages, including the processing and interpretation of seismic survey data, compilation of geological and hydrodynamic models. BelNIPIneft will also come up with recipes and reagents for increasing oil recovery and reducing water intrusion. After that recommendations and an action program to intensify oil recovery will be worked out. Engineering support for oil extraction work will be provided. India is a new market for Belorusneft. Successful penetration of the market will contribute to the expansion of international cooperation and a stronger image of the Belarusian company as a modern high-tech engineering services provider. The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft was established in 1967. It has been part of Belorusneft since 1991. The institute specializes in searching for and surveying hydrocarbon deposits, processing and interpretation of surface seismology and borehole seismology data, preparations for prospecting drilling into promising structures, geological and geophysical support for well drilling operations, assessment of oil and natural gas reserves. The institute also offers other services that Belorusneft needs.
